I keep reading and seeing a lot my favorite travel bloggers displaying their entries to this Capture the Colour Contest put on by travelsupermarket.com. I love taking pictures and I think I have a decent eye for photography so I figured, what the heck, why not? I can show off some of the sights I’ve seen, hopefully stir some interest in looking at life in a different way, and possibly win an Ipad or money for travel!
To enter, 5 photos must be posted and best display the colors, blue, red, yellow, green and white. So after looking around through all of my pictures here are the 5 that I chose to best exemplify the designated colors!
Blue – Last year, during one of my camping trips up to Red Feather Lakes in Colorado, I made my way to Molly Lake. The lake and surrounding area was void of people, but buzzing with hundreds of these neon blue dragonflies. It took me some time before I was able to move slowly enough and focus in on these bright blue dragonflies with my compact camera, but I finally got a shot. Neon blue specks flying around made for a very unique experience for my first time to Molly Lake!
Red – I took this picture just a week ago when I made my way to Big South Trailhead up the Poudre Canyon in Colorado. This year Colorado has been suffering from extremely hot weather and multiple fires across the state. Walking along the Cache La Poudre River on this trail you would never be able to tell. The entire trail was abundant with life, this red toadstool being part of it.
Yellow – Last month I found myself exploring different places in Nicaragua. One of the towns that I became familiar with was the colonial city of Leon. I found myself walking by Recoleccion Cathedral, which was only a few blocks from my hostel almost everyday. I would always snap pictures trying to get a good shot that would really display the yellow of the building. Finally, one of the last days, the sun seemed to hit the cathedral just right and I was able to capture the rich yellow exterior.
Green – One of the most impressive and memorable gardens that I have been to were those of Versailles in France. I love how this picture almost gives the illusion that green grass and trees seem to go forever to an unknown place.
White – The Ice Castle of Silverthorne have been one of my favorite picture spots that I have ever been to. Being able to walk in and around these castles brings back a child like feeling. I was in awe snapping pictures left and right. This was one of those times that really made me wish I had a more professional camera. The shots during the day came out amazing. During the night, lights within the ice structures themselves illuminate the natural hues of blues and greens of the frozen castles.
So that’s it folks! Hopefully you enjoyed taking a peak at my pictures. I definitely went down memory lane trying to find the ones that I wanted. Now it’s time to tag some fellow bloggers, some of which have already posted their 5 colors!
