For the longest time now, I’ve been playing around with a Canon compact camera. More recently Canon’s 1400 SD.
I would like to think of myself as a decent photographer, but then again I feel like we all feel proud of our own work whatever it may be.
I love taking my camera on my travels. It’s tiny and takes up little space and I have a waterproof case for it. Canon is also considered to make the best compact cameras on the market.
So here is my question for anybody reading this. Should I invest in a nicer camera?
I was looking at some of Canon’s DSLR cameras. I’ve toyed with some of their Rebels, and really like what I see in their lines above that. (The Mark III would be my dream camera)
If I stick with what I have, it would keep my travel bag light and simple. I wouldn’t have to worry about buying a larger or additional bag for my backpacking adventures. I am however limited to my camera. I know it in and out and at this point can only do so much compared to what I envision for my shots
If I get a newer camera I would realistically be looking at purchasing a nicer Rebel. (I know Nikon makes the better DSLR in this level of camera but if I upgrade once I know I’ll upgrade again and in the end would be working with a Canon)
With a better camera I feel like I would take more incredible images. Like I said, I like what I have now, but can only imagine what I can do if I started playing with something better!
The one unfortunate part would be that it would make my ease of travel a tad more obnoxious. I would also have to be more careful of where I set my stuff. I’m generally pretty trusting but if I get a camera that possibly would cost more than my $1400 month-long trip this summer I wouldn’t be able to have it leave my sight.
Thinking about it, I could not get my camera and take another month-long adventure! Decisions decisions…
So what do you think? How do you like my images and would it be worth me getting a new camera?
Here are some of my favorites I’ve taken with my compact camera
